Words At Work Adds Three To Minneapolis Office

Includes global marketing veteran Mark Derks joining as partner, CMO


MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 13, 2017 – Words At Work announced today that three new faces have joined its Minneapolis office, including Mark Derks as a partner and chief marketing officer (CMO), Matt Burow as a senior graphic designer and Alison Buckneberg as account director.


“Over the last 30 years, it’s been our goal to serve our clients with strategic thinking and exceptional writing and design” said Chuck Rottinghaus, partner at Words At Work. “The combined experience in Mark, Matt and Alison’s backgrounds, allows us to expand our creative, PR, social media and strategic services. We’re excited about where this growth will take us and our clients.”


Derks will focus on bringing further innovation to Words At Work’s client strategy, branding, content, creative and design offerings. Previously, he spent more than 20 years with C.H. Robinson in various marketing and sales roles. Most recently he served as director of global marketing where he led marketing strategy, brand management and external communications. Currently, he serves as secretary on the board of directors for The BrandLab, a non-profit organization that presents high school students of diverse backgrounds with opportunities to gain experience within the marketing industry. Derks received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.




Burow brings more than 15 years of experience in graphic design and art direction to the agency. He has a strong background in corporate identity, digital design, packaging, sales enablement and advertising with an emphasis in WordPress. Burow received his bachelor’s degree from Montana State University, Bozeman and went on to study painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute Chicago.






Buckneberg will provide strategic, creative and consultative services to agency clients. She has 11 years of experience in marketing and public relations and specializes in building integrated communications and content marketing initiatives. She received her bachelor’s degree in strategic communication from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
